Treatment may include assessment, counselling and behavioural therapies, medication-assisted treatment, withdrawal management, and support for co-occurring mental or physical health conditions. Effective treatment is typically person-centred and evidence-informed, and may be provided in outpatient, community, or residential settings. Treatment aims to improve health and functioning, reduce substance-related harms, and support individuals in moving toward recovery and long-term wellbeing.

The issue of drug (NAPZA) abuse at the global, regional, and national levels remains a serious public health issue, with widespread impacts on social, economic, and security domains. Based on the 2023 National Survey on Drug Abuse conducted by BNN, BRIN, and BPS, the prevalence rate of drug abuse in Indonesia among individuals aged 15–64 years was1.73%, equivalent to approximately 3.33 million people. Furthermore, the prevalence rate of drug use was 2.20%, or approximately 4.24 million people.
