Many healthcare providers report that addressing alcohol and other drug problems is one of the most challenging areas of their practice. It is important that substance use counsellors can partner with providers to implement cost-effective strategies.

Though adolescent cigarette smoking rates have decreased over the past four decades with fewer than 1 in 25 teens reporting daily tobacco use, e-cigarette use has increased two-fold. There are still lower rates of adolescent nicotine use overall, but a potentially dangerous trend has emerged with the increased use of vaping. 

There are often many risk factors associated with the development of a substance use disorder. It is essential to understand and appreciate the interaction between all contributing factors. In this free webinar, organised by NAADAC, Julie Owens, a Certified Domestic Violence Counsellor, will discuss the overlapping vulnerabilities.

The Global Conference on Addiction and Behavioral Health is scheduled on August 22-24, 2019 in London, UK.

The theme of the event is “Unifying the New Discoveries and Advanced Approaches towards Addiction” which is cornerstone for accomplishing Addiction, Rehabilitation and Psychiatry problems.

This national conference focusses on end of life care for people with problematic alcohol and drug use. It will showcase findings from a unique research project exploring end of life care and problematic substance use. This will include the voices of people with experience, families, friends, carers, the professionals who work with them, and what existing evidence tells us.
