In response to COVID-19, the in-person 5 city Recovery Capital Conference will take place as a virtual event on a production stage streamed as a virtual conference instead to respect physical distancing protocol.
In a culture where individual achievement is valued above the welfare of the group, isolation and loneliness will be prevalent. Human beings are troop primates by nature. When we are faced with prolonged loneliness, it goes against our primitive survival impulses to be a part of a group. Loneliness is both complex and multi-determined.
To support a cohesive recovery community and addiction field services, there needs to be alignment. The treatment model for addiction has evolved with time. There are multiple pathways to recovery for substance use disorder. As treatment for addiction has changed and grown, there is a need for peer to peer participatory process. The outlook on addiction is still strongly negative in areas of the world.
