In August 2019, ISSUP and its National Chapters in Latin America were invited to take part in the XX Meeting of the Drug Demand Reduction Expert Group in Colombia. The three day meeting was organised by the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD) and brought together experts from more than 20 Caribbean and Latin American countries.

At the end of last month, ISSUP's Deputy Director, Livia Edegger attended the 4th Annual ICUDDR Conference in Cusco, Peru. The conference was kicked off on Sunday, July 21st with welcome speeches by university representatives, government officials and international organisations and included the presentation of the Cusco Declaration on Substance Use and Treatment.

The 27th Annual Meeting of the Society for Prevention Research (SPR) was held from May 28th – 31st in San Francisco. This year’s conference focus ‘Prevention Science in a Big Data World’ offered the opportunity to consider ways in which the prevention science community can leverage complex data and innovative technologies to open new avenues in prevention research.
