Adfam is the only national charity tackling the effects of alcohol, drug use, or gambling on family members and friends. We improve life for thousands of people. We want anyone affected by someone elseś drug or alcohol use or gambling problem to have the chance to benefit from healthy relationships, be part of a loving and supportive family and enjoy mental and physical wellbeing. Adfam was also instrumental in the establishment of ISSUP UK and continues its collaboration as a member of ISSUP UK's Advisory Board.
This one day training looks at brief interventions for working with families affected by drug and alcohol use. This course is designed for everyone working with adult family members affected by someone else’s drug or alcohol use. No previous experience required.
Recent research suggests that frontline practitioners are experiencing symptoms of burnout at an increasing rate. Working daily with high numbers of complex caseloads is taking its toll on worker mental and physical health and work life balance. With record numbers of staff leaving social care, it's clear that workers need support to combat the impact of burnout symptoms.
This one day training looks at brief and extended interventions for working with parents who use drugs and alcohol. This course delivers essential insights into the issues surrounding parental substance misuse and safeguarding along with skills for working with parents who are problematic drug and alcohol users. It is designed for anyone who’s work brings them into contact with parents who have issues with substance misuse.
This one day training will equip practitioners to work more effectively with families affected by substance use where there is trauma. Participants will learn the neuroscience of trauma and practical strategies to support families.
Learning outcomes:
Join our two-day training course, which explores the effects of substance use in the family on children, and how to support them. It covers both direct support for children and young people, and how to support non-substance using parents or other adults to support children appropriately.
Adfam forum events are open to anyone with an interest in supporting families affected by substance use, and seek to shine a light on a range of key topics relating to families and substance use.
