Barcelona Forum on Drugs

All regions and all sectors are joining forces to reduce drug use.

(Information for this event is taken from the organisers website)

After too many decades, drug use remains one of humanity’s greatest unresolved challenges. According to UN official data from 2025, drug use has grown by more than 28% worldwide in the last 10 years.

Since 2024, a genuine and participatory three years process, called the Global Forum on Drugs, has been underway to collect and share innovative approaches, best practices, and useful reccomendations on drug demand reduction.

This initiative is coordinated by the Association Proyecto Hombre (alongside the local partner Proyecto Hombre Catalunya) in collaboration with «la Caixa» Foundation, together with the participation of numerous professional networks, governmental institutions, international organizations, and individual experts from around all regions. The University of Barcelona supervises the process to ensure its rigor and scientific basis.

The most relevant contributions will be presented and discussed at the Barcelona Forum on Drugs, an in-person international event that will take place in the extraordinary CosmoCaixa Science Museum in the city of Barcelona, Spain, on January 28 and 29 of 2027 (pre-forum activities and an official reception at the City Hall of Barcelona on January 27).
